Sorry for not posting my pick of the day yesterday! (As if anyone is reading this anyway) So I will make up for it today by posting not one, but TWO picks of the day!!!
My favorite, Mao Asada:
If anyone actually watches this, they should make sure they watch the entire video, because my favorite part is her encore of her LP. She is on time and not rushing through her footwork, unlike her competition performances in which she always seems to be a little late. The footwork goes perfectly with the music, and I hope she will be on time at her next competition!!
Mirai Nagasu:
I hope she skates like this at Nationals.
I really love Mao's presence on the ice. So gentle and graceful. And you're right, I hope she gets her timing down so that the footwork is with the music. That affects her second mark. One of the reasons Yu-Na always scores so high is the musicality of her programs and how she usually skates in time with the music so that the choreography matches perfectly. At times Mao is a bit behind the music. The steps of running out go so perfectly with the music for her LP. I really hope she nails it at 4CC and worlds. :)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for Mirai. I'm really thinking Alissa will take gold whether she makes a mistake or not but I think Mirai is the best bet for silver or gold if Alissa tanks completely. I for one believe Alissa might have already had her skate of the season at the GPF. I'm doubtful that she'll be able to recreate that kind of magic in back to back performances. We'll have to wait and see though...
Yes the Ladies competition at US Nationals will be interesting. I already posted my thoughts in my preview thread, but I just have this feeling that Alissa has already peaked, similar to the 05-06 season where she made the GPF. Although she is a beautiful skater, I don't know if she has the strength to maintain the level of the GPF this year. I guess we will have to wait and see...
